Mattress Mack Hospitalized With 'Cognitive' Issues

A beloved Houston businessman, Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, has said he had been hospitalized due to cognitive issues.

On Saturday night, he posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, that was filmed from his hospital bed that evening.

McIngvale, 73, said he was having "a little trouble with cognitive things," but reassured his followers that he was going to be all right.

"I'm sure I'll be all right because they have great doctors at the Texas Medical Center," he said in the video.

McIngvale is a businessman popular in the Houston community for his acts of generosity. Many wished him a speedy recovery, with several people noting how much he has done to help the people in the city over the years, including opening up his store to shelter people in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

And he took the opportunity to promote a Labor Day sale at his furniture store, Gallery Furniture, saying it was the "best way" for his supporters to make him feel better.

"Biggest sale ever! Labor Day Super Sale and buy that Tempur-Pedic and sleep great tonight," McIngvale said.

"Hopefully, I'll get out of here pretty soon cause I gotta go sleep on that Tempur-Pedic. God bless you all. I'm going to be all right and I'm really going to be all right if you all go out and buy some furniture at Gallery Furniture right now."
