Trump Shouldn't Give Up the Fight Against Abortion | Opinion

As Donald Trump stood after the attempt on his life and, with blood streaming down his face, raised his hand shouting, "Fight! Fight! Fight!" millions watched in awe of a man they believed would face any adversary to protect America.

During his four years in office, President Trump showed he didn't care what establishment Republicans had always done, or what politicians were expected to do. He simply worked as hard and as creatively as possible to make America the greatest nation it could be.

Though pursued relentlessly by Democrats attempting to jail him, seeing America fall apart amid the train wreck of the Biden-Harris administration, Trump chose to run again—to once again work to restore our country.

The former president's track record of fighting for the American people makes the current Trump campaign strategy on abortion all the more shocking and disappointing.

Since the attempt on the former president's life, the withdrawal of President Joe Biden, and the seizure of the Democratic nomination by Kamala Harris, the Trump campaign has done everything possible to assure Americans that it will not be "banning abortion."

Just this past week, Trump stated on Truth Social that "My Administration will be great for women and their reproductive rights." Shortly after, JD Vance gave an interview where he promised that if a federal "ban on abortion" went to Trump's desk, he would veto it.

Despite all of that, Kamala Harris claims Trump will "enact a nationwide abortion ban" and "limit access to birth control." Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) responded to JD Vance's interview by saying, "American women aren't stupid."

Right now, the only people in America who don't think the Trump-Vance ticket will try to "ban abortion" are the pro-lifers who are now considering not voting.

The upcoming presidential election should be about many things—inflation, immigration, health care, jobs and the economy, the safety of Americans, taxes and government spending, national security, and yes, protecting the unborn.

Because the Biden-Harris administration has been such a colossal failure, Democrats and the mainstream media want the presidential race to be a ballot initiative on abortion. Over the past several weeks, the Trump campaign has taken the bait and sounded more and more like Clinton Democrats touting "safe, legal, and rare" as its abortion policy. Its pro-life base is increasingly forced to wonder what happened to the president who fearlessly worked to ensure the end of Roe v. Wade.

In an election where everyone—especially the Democrats currently opposing legislation that would prevent illegal immigrants from voting—knows that every vote will matter, Trump must motivate the pro-life base. As the most pro-life president in history, this shouldn't be hard to do.

The former president is a father and a grandfather. He has spoken beautifully about every child as "a precious and sacred gift from God." At the 2022 March for Life, he said, "When we watch a child grow, we see the splendor that radiates from each human soul. One life changes the world." He needs to find those words again, and to talk about the countless ways his administration supported moms and dads in the past and will again in the future.

In 2019, President Trump met with abortion survivor Melissa Ohden at the White House. When he's next asked about abortion, he will have the opportunity to ask the interviewer whether Melissa, who lived through a saline infusion abortion meant to scald her to death, should have been left to die. He should point out that Kamala Harris voted twice against federal legislation to protect babies after they were born alive following an abortion attempt, and that her VP candidate, Tim Walz, repealed Minnesota laws requiring medical treatment for those babies.

During the 2016 presidential debates, Trump showed Americans he wasn't afraid to tell the world that an abortion "rips the baby out of the womb." Now, he has the chance to tell the world about the people Kamala Harris has voted to let die after they have been born alive following an abortion.

These important messages can be key to a pro-parent, pro-child strategy for the campaign. Trump should remind the American people that at the grocery store under the Biden-Harris regime, moms like me are paying more for eggs, milk, and bread than we did when he was in office.

Trump should share the story of Rachel Morin, a mom of five who was murdered by an illegal immigrant while Border Czar Kamala Harris failed to do anything to address the invasion at the border.

And he should talk about Kathy Miller, whose son Kyle Miller was killed while serving in the military unit Tim Walz abandoned when he opted to campaign for Congress instead of going to Iraq with his unit.

Americans—especially the most vulnerable in the womb—need a president who will fight for them. Kamala Harris clearly isn't fit for the job. Everyone knows President Trump can fight. Now he has to decide if he wants to.
